British Council HESPAL Scholarships (UK)

The Higher Education Scholarship Palestine (HESPAL) aims to help create the next generation of senior academics who can maintain international quality standards at Palestinian universities and to develop renewed, sustainable links between Palestinian and UK universities.

The scheme will upgrade academic staff in Palestinian universities through a Masters or PhD Scholarship programme.

The deadline for the current call is 23 January 2019.

Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme (Oxford, UK)

The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme cultivates the leaders of tomorrow by providing outstanding university graduates and professionals from developing and emerging economies with the opportunity to pursue fully-funded graduate studies at the University of Oxford, combined with a comprehensive programme of leadership development, long-term mentoring and networking. International Arab Charity (UK)

The IAC was registered as a UK charity in 1978, and has since focused on funding projects and initiatives addressing humanitarian relief, education and culture in the Middle East. The IAC is also focused on promoting the richness of Middle Eastern culture in the UK.

It has have sponsored many Arab students to help further their education in the UK . More details here.

Hani Qaddumi Foundation Scolarships

The Hani Qaddumi Foundation provides grants to both undergraduate and graduate students in Palestine and Lebanon. Its aim is to drive improvements in education and its impact on Palestinians in Palestine and in Palestinian communities in the diaspora. More details here.

Islamic Development Bank Scholarship Programmes

The IsDB Scholarship Programmes are an important tool in the development initiatives led by the IsDB since 1983 to foster technology and knowledge sharing among member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries.  More details here.

Fulbright Foreign Student Program (US)

The Fulbright Program enables Palestinian students to pursue graduate-level study in the United States of America. Participants also have the unique opportunity to experience life in the United States and to share Palestinian culture and traditions with Americans. Participants are chosen through a merit-based, open competition in which leadership potential, academic excellence and ability to adjust to life in the United States are all considered.

Palestinian Rule of Law Awards

The Palestinian Rule of Law Awards provide scholarships for one-year academic master of laws (LLM) programs for qualified applicants from the West Bank and Gaza for study at selected law schools in the United States and the Central European University in Budapest.

Perimeter Scholarships (Canada)

PhD Studentships for Physics in Scotland (UK)

Chevening Scholarships (UK)

Chevening is the UK Government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening offers two types of award – Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships – the recipients of which are personally selected by British embassies and high commissions throughout the world. The International Astronomical Youth Camp (IAYC) is a three-week long summer camp aiming to promote knowledge of astronomy and related sciences in a unique international atmosphere.

DESY Summer Students (Germany)

RAS-OAD astro4dev grants

The mission of the OAD is to help further the use of astronomy, including its practitioners, skills and infrastructures, as a tool for development by mobilizing the human and financial resources necessary in order to realize the field’s scientific, technological and cultural benefits to society.

Mobility funding is available which has the goal of establishing or nurturing research, educational and/or development related collaborations between the United Kingdom (UK) and countries where astronomy research is not well established. Open for scientists, engineers or educators either based in the UK, or who will travel to the UK.  More details here.

Scholarships at the Universities of Aberdeen, St. Andrew’s & Queen Margaret (Scotland, UK)

Bespoke scheme for Palestinian students to undertake a Master’s degree. Two scholarships a year offered by the University of Aberdeen, St. Andrew’s University, Queen Margaret University (Edinburgh, UK). The scholarship includes a fee waiver, research costs are normally covered but NOT living expenses. Candidates interested in this scheme should in a first instance identify a supervisor at the above institutions and agree a project. A formal interview is then arranged. If an offer is made to the candidate, the supervisor will then apply for a fee waiver on the applicant’s behalf.

Elphinstone PhD Scholarships (University of Aberdeen, UK)

This Elphinstone scholarship at the University of Aberdeen (UK) covers a fee waiver for entire duration of the PhD programme, research costs are normally covered as well, but NOT living expenses. The scheme is open to all international students, including Palestinians. Minimum eligibility criteria is a bachelor degree with an upper second class (2:1) or equivalent and/or MSc with distinction.

The Rhodes Scholarships at the University of Oxford (UK)

The Rhodes Scholarship is a postgraduate award supporting exceptional students from around the world to study at the University of Oxford (UK).

Durham Palestine Educational Trust Scholarship (UK)

 The Durham Palestine Educational Trust hopes to offer two scholarships for a one-year taught Master’s Degree at Durham University (UK).

Gaza Oxford Brookes University Scholarship (UK)

The Oxford Brookes Gaza Scholarship Scheme is supported by the Asfari Foundation and was created in 2009, out of a strong will to support the people of Gaza through bringing in one student each year at graduate level to undertake a course of study leading to the award of an Oxford Brookes Masters’ degree at Oxford Brookes University (UK).

Saïd Foundation Scholarships (UK)
